ALAMOSA— Lace up your running shoes, dust off your walking shoes, grab a friend, join a team and bring the children for the 15th Annual Stephanie L. Miner 5k Walk and Run.
On Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m., enjoy a scenic view of Cole Park while winding past Cattails Golf Course with hundreds of runners and walkers in one of the largest events in the San Luis Valley.
As the event has grown over the years so has the option for participation. There is something for the whole family including a one-mile healthy walk and a 2.5-mile trail along with the traditional 5k.
One hundred percent of the funds raised from the Stephanie L. Miner walk will stay local, helping SLV Health’s efforts in providing screening, treatment and support for those dealing with all types of cancer.
This year’s funds will be used to continue the efforts of supporting the new cancer center at SLV Health. This 5K walk and run is a great community activity for racers, runners, walkers and families.
After the race, the family and friends of Stephanie L. Miner invite participants to enjoy a free potato bar.
Pre-registration begins Sept. 5-19 and the cost is $30.
If you don’t pre-register by Sept. 19, then you must pay $35 on the day of the race. Teams of 10 or more that pre-register will receive a $5 per person discount, $25.
T-shirts are available to the first 1,000 registrants; please register early as sizes are limited. Shirts are available in Alamosa at the SLV Health Foundation Office 1921 Main St, City Market, 131 Market Street, Sept. 11.
