Annual fiestas set for San Luis

SAN LUIS — A summer highlight in Colorado's oldest town, the Fiesta de Santiago y Santa Ana will be held from Wednesday, July 25 through Sunday, July 29.
This annual event showcases the oldest town in Colorado, as well as Santa Ana, the grandmother of Christ and Santiago, one of Jesus’ disciples.
The feast day for Santiago — Saint James — Saint James, the patron saint of Spain, will be Wednesday, July 25, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Chama, with the procession at 5:30 p.m., Mass at 6 p.m. and a potluck following the mass.
Friday, July 27, will include the Sangre de Cristo Heritage Center Museum, which will be open through Sunday.
The Fiesta Queen Pageant will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Heritage Center Theater.
The Friday Night Kickoff will be from 7-9 p.m. at the San Luis Community Park.
Saturday, July 28, will begin with the parade on Main Street at 10 a.m., followed by the Santa Ana Bazaar from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the museum courtyard. The Move Mountains Youth Project will be in Town Hall from noon to 4 p.m. A free live music block party will be in town hall from 6 p.m. to midnight. A beer garden will be at Piccadilly’s from 6 p.m. to midnight, as well.
Sunday, July 29 will begin with the Stations of the Cross 10K run at 7 p.m. from the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, followed by the parade at 10 a.m. and a bazaar, booths and music from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the museum courtyard. A Mariachi Mass is planned at El Convento at 11 a.m. with food and musical entertainment from noon to 4 p.m.
