Another week in the books, grid picture begins to clear

STAFF REPORT
SAN LUIS VALLEY— Monte Vista (0-2-0) had poor offensive fortune when they hosted Paonia on Friday.
The Pirates failed to find the end zone for the second week in a row suffering a 41-0 loss to the Eagles. Monte Vista will go in search of their first win of the season when they travel to Florence (1-1-0) next weekend.

Falcons fly high
A big win against Paonia had the Centauri Falcons (1-1-0) flying high.
With that meaningful win against an interclass opponent the Falcons tried their luck in 2A when they traveled to Pagosa Springs on Friday night.
Unlike last year Centauri could not clear Pagosa Springs, falling 31-12 to the Pirates. With a road laden opening to the season the Falcons come home next weekend to host Olathe (1-1-0).
Sargent (2-0-0) looked to be fully charged picking up a win over Fowler in a meeting of teams that made it to the quarterfinals last year. They followed that by taking care of business knocking off unranked Springfield (1-2-0) in a 20-6 affair.
The Farmers will get a little taste of a more competitive team when they travel to Mancos to face the Blue Jays (1-0-0) next week.
Traveling to northern Colorado Sangre de Cristo (0-2-0) went in search of their first win of the season. Instead the Thunderbirds were handed a 32-26 loss at the hands of Las Animas (1-1-0).
Sangre will travel to Sanford next week to face a red hot Sanford team.
