ANTONITO — Early Iron in Alamosa was not the only festival Labor Day weekend. About 20 miles south of Alamosa, Antonito held its 6th annual Labor Day festival on Saturday and Sunday.

The day began with a 5k walk-run presented by Conejos Clean Water, a local organization promoting health and pride in the community and mini money runners, an educational program that teaches youth good money management.

The Antonito Town Hall, known as The Mansion, donated the place for a free breakfast provided by the Knights of Columbus, who also provided lunch. They are a Catholic organization that supports the church through these events, an Easter egg hunt, and help the community with an annual coat drive.

There was a parade, proudly representing everyone in the Antonito-Conejos area. Antonito cheerleaders, various businesses, classic cars, and firefighters all representing the community.

The festival at Antonito also had vendors selling clothing, jewelry, and more.

The local dance group Los Vecinos Baliadores performed. There was a basketball shootout, and a garage and book sale. Different bands performed into the night.

Sunday the festivities continued with a car show at the old football field.
