Centauri among top three schools

LA JARA —  North Conejos School District RE-1J is honored to announce its latest academic accolade, being recognized as a Top School District in Colorado. Superintendent Curt Wilson said credit for this and other such achievements goes to a tremendous teaching and support staff and to our entire community.
“We especially note the caliber of students the district has who extend the daily effort towards excellence. We recognize their positive attitude and their respect for education in general.
Through the excellent work of high school teachers Keith Christensen and Scott McCarroll in guiding the SkillsUSA Centauri High School Chapter, Centauri is one of eight national finalists in the workplace skills component of the SkillsUSA framework. Centauri is also number one of five Colorado Chapters of Distinction.

The first level of recognition is a Quality Chapter and this year 12 Colorado chapters/sections reached that level. The second level of recognition is the Chapter of Distinction milestone, and five Colorado chapters reached that milestone. Each of these chapters/sections will received seating at the opening ceremony and have been invited to a VIP red carpet event immediately following.
The capstone of this program is the Models of Excellence level, and for the first time ever Colorado is represented, as well as with three chapters.
These Colorado chapters will have members participate in business and industry partner interviews in Louisville, Ky. at NLSC.
