Centauri will celebrate two times

LA JARA — Centauri High School’s commencement festivities will start Friday, May 22, at the Star Drive In at Monte Vista. The video will start at 8:30 p.m. and families and students are asked begin to arrive from 7 to 7:30p.m. Concessions will be open for purchases and social distancing will be practiced. After the slide show, the movies Spies in Disquise or Bloodshot will be played. Guests can pick which movie they want to watch. The radio station for the drive in will be 88.1 FM. Volunteers are asked to come help decorate the drive in. If anyone is interested in helping please email or call the school.

The second part of graduation festivities will be a drive-up style event 10 a.m. May 23 in front of Centauri High School with one car allowed per graduate. There will be a stage in front of the high school and graduates will remain in their cars until they are directed to cross the stage and get their diplomas. Graduates, remember you cannot decorate your caps but you can decorate the masks that you are all required to wear when you come and get your diploma.

We are asking that graduates get to the school and park in their designated parking spot by 9:30 am. We are asking that no one bring large vehicles or campers in order for everyone to view graduation from their cars. A map will be emailed to each family to let them know where to park.

The radio station that will be broadcasting the graduation is KSPK 100.3. There will be a livestream on facebook and NFHS network. The link to NFHS will be sent in a school messenger at a later date. We will have two photographers taking pictures of the graduates. After the graduation is complete, local law enforcement and the Colorado State Patrol has agreed to lead a parade of graduates through the towns. We will have a complete parade map soon and it will be in a community school messenger so that we can get the community involved in celebrating our 2020 graduates.
