SAN LUIS — San Luis welcomed fall with the Fiesta de Otono on Sept.17.

There was a free community dinner, with carnitas, tortillas, potatoes, Spanish rice, beans, chili, fruit, cake, and drinks, provided by Los Cavillos.

The event was sponsored by Adelante San Luis — a grant that provides funds to entrepreneurial skills to teens.

There were booths selling homemade items. Eileen Maestas and her daughter, Amber, from the Stations of Suicide Awareness committee, sold handmade wreaths.

There was dancing in the streets thanks to DJ Moses Hernandez with English and Spanish classics. A beautiful, somewhat chilly night provided a nice backdrop for the movie “Top Gun.”

Sunday morning, Sept. 18, Adelante San Luis organized a clean-up event to bring the community together. This was the first of a triannual event.
