Conejos County Rotary Club using contest to educate students about drug addiction

LA JARA – The Conejos County Rotary Club began a coloring contest focusing on addiction prevention and demonstrating commitment to a drug free life. The Club has partnered with exceptionally talented students at the high school level who draw the pictures that campaign and bring awareness to the effects of drug abuse. “Our goal is to develop an activity/coloring book with all the drawings that have been submitted and present it to the elementary school students this coming year.” said Rotarian Jason Coombs. The Club just announced this year’s winners. Long time Rotarian Adele Barr, awarded a $100.00 check to 1st place winner; Angel Linares, Sanford high school student. Centauri high school representative Aubrey Robbins, awarded a $50.00 check to 2nd place winner Lizzy Valentine, Centauri high school student. “We are so proud of the students who participated in this project.” said Lois Trenholm, Club President.
