Death claims Costilla County Sheriff Amos Medina

SAN LUIS — Costilla County Sheriff Amos Medina died Nov. 30 in Colorado Springs following more than 31 years in law enforcement, the last eight as sheriff.
Amos served alongside several sheriffs before being elected to the post, a position he regarded as an honor and achievement.
In the most recent parade, A float he built publicly thanked the people for trusting him and electing him to the position. He was 78 and was in Colorado Springs when he passed away. He and wife Beatrice were married for 51 years and he spent much time with family.
The sheriff also enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors, as well as being an avid Broncos fan.
He was born in San Francisco, Colo. and will be buried in the San Francisco Cemetery, with services by Romero Funeral Home of San Luis.
