Fiery motorcycle crash at MV claims Texas woman


MONTE VISTA—The Monte Vista Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle on fire at the intersection of Grande Avenue and Sherman Avenue on the evening of June 18.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a pickup truck on fire at the intersection and were notified that the fire was caused by a traffic accident involving the pickup and a motorcycle.  Once the fire was put out a motorcycle was discovered.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Rachelle Green, 52, of Rosharon, Texas, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the truck was identified as Charles Burd of Monte Vista, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance and later released.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Monte Vista Police Department with assistance from Colorado State Patrol. Once the investigation is complete, charges will be up to the District Attorney’s office.
The Monte Vista Fire, Department, ambulance services, Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol also responded to the scene.
