Glory Days — rainy day fun

By SYLVIA LOBATO
LA JARA — Steady rain that began early and stayed late threatened the fun at La Jara's annual Glory Days celebration Saturday, June 16, but clearing skies later offered the opportunity to hear — and dance to great local bands.
People with umbrellas rode on the floats and some intrepid souls walked along the parade route, where children still sought the usual candy treats.
Disappointment was evident where vendors were set up alongside the town park, while every effort was made to accommodate Mother Nature.
Beginning soon, the town will offer free music in the park and other fun activities.
Summer Rocks will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 23 and continue every Saturday evening until July 7.
This is free, but persons attending are asked to bring their own chairs.
La Jara also offers other fun activities throughout the year.
