CONEJOS — Lawrence Gonzales, 22, who escaped from the Conejos County Jail March 2, is still at large.
Fellow escapee Kyle Pauley, 30, faces a preliminary hearing March 19 on charges of aggravated robbery F-3, First degree burglary F-3, possession of weapons by previous offender F-5, menacing f-5 and Theft M-2. Bond was set at $60,000 Cash Surety.
He also faces charges relating to his March 2 escape from the Conejos County Jail.
Pauley was arrested after a community member reported a suspicious person walking through Sanford at approximately 7:38 a.m. March 3.
The individual fit Pauley’s description and a Colorado State Patrol officer responded.
Pauley ran and attempted to conceal himself in an irrigation ditch as the trooper gave chase.
La Jara Police Chief Jerry Lujan and additional CSP troopers responded and Pauley was taken into custody at approximately 8:07 a.m. without force and with no injury.
Investigation into the escape has revealed the two men utilized a flaw in the building’s ventilation system to leave the jail.
Gonzales, who escaped with Pauley, is still at large.  
A 22-year-old Hispanic male, he is five feet, nine inches tall and weighs 165 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.
He faces charges of intimidation, stalking and drug possession. If Gonzales is seen, do not approach and call 911 immediately.
