Alamosa resident Janet “Skippy” Lee Morrison, 74, died Aug. 8, 2021, of natural causes at the Pikes Peak Hospice at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs surrounded by her loving family.

Janet was born in Denver, Colo., on Sept. 23, 1946, the daughter of Vernon Pemberton and Marguerette King Pemberton. She married the love of her life, Ted Morrison, in Montrose, Colo., on Aug. 19, 1967.  They enjoyed over 53 years together.

Skippy graduated from Adams State and was a long-time supporter of the University, previously serving on the Alumni Board. She was often seen with her husband at many of the sporting events.

Other causes near and dear to her heart were the orphanage in Mexico and the Conejos County Gift of Giving.

She owned and operated Arby’s Restaurant in Alamosa for 27 years. She was a very kind and gentle person that had a bit of spunk to her. She had the ability to make everyone feel special.

Skippy was one to work behind the scenes and get things done without anyone’s knowledge. Her greatest love was her family and she especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. They will miss their Mimi very much.

Skippy is survived by her husband Ted Morrison of Alamosa; her children Kim (Aaron) Woodke of Del Norte and Melissa (Chas) Moeller of Alamosa; her grandchildren Sydney and Jayda Woodke, Brayden and Kamryn Moeller; her sister Patricia (Bill) Cook of Aurora, Colo., their children Erik Cook, Kelly (Will) Smith and Patrick Cook; her sister-in-law Tandy Manross of Maricopa, Ariz., and her children Tysen (Mason and Rylie) and Tristica Manross.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at The Barn at La Manzanilla, 6491 Highway 17, in Alamosa. Contributions in her memory can be made to the John Zay Guest House, 2131 N. Tejon St., Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
