A La Jara man is still alive due to the swift action of Police Chief Jerry Lujan, who was honored during the La Jara Town Board meeting Thursday. Pictured with Lujan, center, are La Jara Mayor Larry Zaragoza, left, and Town Manager Dennis Koenig, at right. Lujan said he got a call that an individual was down and unresponsive and, when he arrived, the fellow wasn’t breathing. As part of CPR efforts, he administered Naloxone, a medication used to reverse the effects of opiods, especially in cases of overdose. After respiration was restored, the victim was taken to the hospital.
