Learn about fly-fishing year-round on Oct. 31

ALAMOSA— The regular monthly meeting of the SLV Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. at the SLV Health, Education and Conference Center at 1921 Main Street in Alamosa.
This month’s meeting will feature a program called “Fly-Fishing Around the SLV, 12 Months a Year.”
Don’t put away that fishing gear just yet until you see Deacon Aspinwall’s program Tuesday night.
With winter right around the corner, many fly fishers begin hanging up their gear: some replacing it with ice fishing tackle, others for winter sports equipment and some abandoning the area altogether.
Some may be surprised to learn that there are fly fishing opportunities in the area 52 weeks a year.
This program will focus on Deacon’s monthly “fly fishing calendar,” where he’ll discuss strategies, locations, flies, gear and the eight species he targets around the Valley at various times throughout the seasons.

As always the meeting is open to the public.
Refreshments will be provided and a prize drawing will be held at the end of the meeting.
Trout Unlimited is dedicated to the conservation, preservation, and restoration of North America’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds.
