Monte residents injured in single vehicle crash

ALAMOSA COUNTY -  The Colorado State Patrol investigated a single vehicle crash on Highway 160 at mile Post 241.


At approximately 6:40 a.m. on Nov. 21, 2020, a 2007 GMC Yukon pulling a trailer driven by Genevieve Montoya 31 of Monte Vista, was traveling eastbound on Colorado 160. The GMC went off the right side of the roadway, traveled for 210’ before striking an embankment at a private driveway causing the vehicle to go airborne. The front of the vehicle stuck the ground on the other side of the driveway when it landed. The GMC stopped on the right side of the roadway.


The driver of the GMC was transported by ambulance to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center for her injuries. A passenger, Monica Naranjo, 32, of Monte Vista, sustained serious bodily injury and was transported by ambulance to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. The driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts. A third occupant, Titus Naranjo, 27, of Monte Vista, was uninjured in the crash. It is unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash.
