NCSD narrows superintendent search to three candidates

LA JARA — The North Conejos School District has selected three finalists for the position of superintendent at a meeting Thursday night, March 17. Interviews for the positions are scheduled for April 4 at the district board room.

Candidates will be replacing Curt Wilson as superintendent after 31 years of service in the North Conejos School District.

The finalists are:

  • Tyler Huffaker — Current Centauri Middle School principal and former sixth grade teacher at Sierra Grande, then a math and technology middle school teacher, and high school agricultural instructor in the North Conejos School District.
  • Darren Edgar — Current superintendent of the Sierra Grande School District and former fourth grade teacher in the North Conejos School District and sixth grade teacher in the Sangre de Cristo School District.
  • Carol Vezzani — Current K-12 principal and athletic director in the Swink K-12 School, assistant principal and athletic director Swink Jr/Sr High, athletic director and journalism teacher at Hanover Schools, with previous roles in various districts as physical education teacher, language arts teacher, interventionist, consumer mathematics, and physical science.
