New small business for La Jara area

LA JARA — The cluster of small businesses and craftspersons outside La Jara grew in early April when the Conejos Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved John Mast’s application for a home-based business.
Mast sought a special use permit for Mountain View Crafts, offering woodcrafts, cabinets and solar components sales, as well as laser engraving.
He owns his property and has a private well and septic system. Water is used for household and livestock, but will not be used for the business. The property relies on solar energy. The only visual change will be a business sign.
The Conejos County Planning Commission held a public hearing April 3 and all interested persons were advised. There were no protests and approval by the BOCC was recommended.
Mast’s business will be at 6689 CR DD.5 near La Jara.
