North Conejos High School celebration postponed

LA JARA —The North Conejos School District announced that the public celebration for the new high school building set for March 26 has been rescheduled to May 27 and 28.

Students will move into the new building on Monday, March 28. The school will hold a small ceremony for students, staff and faculty only at that time.

The May celebration will include a ribbon-cutting.

Over the next several weeks the public will be able to come to the old CHS and bid farewell to their alma mater. The school district will offer old equipment from the school to other schools in the district and then offer the remaining mementos to the public for purchase by bid.

North Conejos is nearing completion of the new high school as a beneficiary of a Colorado Department of Education grant called Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST). That grant of $24.2 million with a local match of $6.4 million is funding the replacement of Centauri High School.
