One vehicle crash claims La Jara man

ALAMOSA — A La Jara man died late Nov. 6 when the vehicle he was driving went out of control and rolled off the North River Road near Alamosa.
The Colorado State Patrol reported that, at approximately 10 p.m., Luke Jaramillo, 31, of La Jara, was traveling northbound on North River Road, approximately .7 miles south of Alamosa County Road 4.5 S in a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
He failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, causing the Jeep to leave the left side.
The Jeep traveled off the roadway before colliding with a gate and fence. It continued off road, striking a delineator post and more fence line before traveling into a field and rolling several times, ejecting Jaramillo from the vehicle and coming to rest on the driver's side.
Jaramillo was not wearing his seatbelt. Excessive speed and lack of seatbelt use are suspected as contributing factors in the fatality, which  remains under investigation.
