Pauley hearing postponed

LA JARA — Kyle Cornett Pauley 31, of Sanford, facing five criminal counts in connection with an armed robbery at County Line Liquor in La Jara, will have a preliminary hearing April 16 in Conejos County Court.
A preliminary hearing had been set at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 19.
He was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 31 on charges of aggravated robbery, menacing victim with a deadly weapon, a class 3 felony, felony menacing with a real or simulated weapon, a class 5 felony, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, a class 6 felony, burglary 1 with assault and menacing, a class 6 felony, and theft between $50 and $300, a class 3 misdemeanor.
He is also due to face charges in connection with a March 2 escape from the Conejos County Jail, as well as activities in other counties of the San Luis Valley.
While the Sheriff’s Office was conducting the investigation at the County Line Liquor Store the La Jara Police Department, along with other sheriff’s staff began searching the area.
During the investigation Sheriff’s Deputies Nicholas Summers and Luis Sisneros obtained enough information and evidence to arrest Pauley without incident at his residence.
Later, after obtaining a search warrant for the residence, the sheriff’s office was able to collect evidence that suggested Pauley was involved in the robbery at the store in La Jara.
As a result of executing the search warrant, further investigation and conducting interviews numerous other cases could possibly be solved throughout the San Luis Valley, including bank robbery in Del Norte, four robberies in Alamosa and one burglary in Monte Vista.
He also faces charges connected with burglaries in Conejos County. Bond is $60,000 cash/surety.
