Prescribed burning also slated

LA JARA — Rio Grande National Forest plans to conduct prescribed burning on the Conejos Peak Ranger District approximately 17 miles southwest of Antonito, between Forest Service Roads 130 and 125.
Smoke from the burn may be visible along Hwy 17 between Antonito and Fox Creek.
The purpose of this burn is to reduce fuel loadings and to improve wildlife habitat.
