Rotarians donate books to VWHS

LA JARA— The Conejos County Rotarians donated two boxes full of books to the Reach Out and Read program of Valley-Wide Health Systems (VWHS), Inc.
Julie Nuanes, site coordinator, said on Jan. 18, “The gently used books will be in the children’s reading corner of our clinics. We encourage our parents to read aloud to their children while waiting for their appointments and we inspire the young patients to take the books home. We appreciate the Rotarians’ efforts and will continue collaborating with the club on future book drives.”
Reach Out and Read is a national non-profit organization represented in every U.S. state and D.C. Their model is delivered by doctors and nurse practitioners at routine pediatric checkups.
