SAN LUIS — Santa came to light the Christmas tree at the San Luis Town Hall on Dec. 3 as a part of the Adelante Manito Christmas celebration.

This year's event was bittersweet for some because it was the end of the grant season and the retirement of director Judith Gurule. The Adelante program in San Luis has helped many youths.

Manito Christmas is a Spanish tradition that has been celebrated for hundreds of years.

Children go door-to-door for Oremos businesses offering treats, like Halloween. Main Street in San Luis was lined with luminarias, as the children proceeded looking for goodies.

Everyone at the Adelante end-of-grant event then went to the theater in the cultural center for food and music. The festivities lasted well into the night.
