COSTILLA COUNTY — The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one car rollover crash located on Beekman Road .5 miles east of Trinchera Ranch Road resulting in serious injury to the driver of the vehicle.

At approximately 8:50 a.m. Oct. 19, a black 2001 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Cher Newell, 47, of Fort Garland, was traveling westbound on Beekman Road approximately one half mile east of Trinchera Ranch Road.  The Newell vehicle lost control on a section of washboard roadway and began to fishtail before yawing across the north side of the roadway and colliding with a dirt embankment.  Following impact, the Newell vehicle traveled off the north side of the roadway rolling twice before coming to rest on its wheels facing northeast.  The Newell party was transported by ambulance for serious injuries to the Alamosa Regional Medical Center where she was flown out to another hospital outside the San Luis Valley.  The accident is still under investigation at this time.  For further inquiries, please contact Sgt.
