ALAMOSA — Valerie Finnegan has been hired by San Luis Valley Federal Bank as a Commercial Loan Officer to assist both current and prospective bank members with all their business loan needs.
She is working at the bank’s main office in downtown Alamosa.
Prior to starting with the SLV Federal, Valerie worked for Farm Service Agency as a Program Tech helping administer Farm Programs available to Valley Ag Producers.
She is a Valley native and grew up in La Jara.  She graduated from Centauri High School and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Finance from the University of Northern Colorado.
After college, she worked for SLV Federal as a Loan Officer to gain her first banking experience.  After a brief period of time living out of the Valley, she and her husband Chuck returned and purchased Bill Clark Truck Line.  They operated the business until 2013.  Valerie continues to be involved in the family farm and ranch, taking care of the bookkeeping responsibilities and providing other support for their farming and cow-calf operation.
Valerie has been very involved in the community and currently serves as the Board President for CONCEPTS a non-profit community development entity and is a board member of the ASU Foundation Board.  She previously served on the El Pomar Foundation’s SLV Regional Council.
“Valerie will be able to meet with the bank’s current and prospective members for all their business loan needs. Bank President Duane Bussey said, “We are very excited to have Valerie join our lending team at the bank. With her past experience as a business owner, she brings strong insights to our self-employed members that will be invaluable.  She looks forward to working with our members.”
