Tracy Shay Trow

Creede resident Tracy Shay Trow, 55, passed away with her family by her side March 9, 2023, of liver failure, at San Luis Regional Medical Center, Alamosa, Colo.

She was born Sept. 27, 1967, and grew up in Creede, graduating from Creede High School. She spent her early years in Creede as a cheerleader, on Creede's basketball and track teams and competing in baton twirling contests statewide. She enjoyed snowmobiling, snow skiing at Wolf Creek, and waterskiing at Navajo Lake.

Tracy attended one year of college at CSU in Fort Collins before turning 21 and was able to fulfill her dream of becoming a flight attendant. Tracy graduated from Eastern Airlines Flight School in Miami, Fla., on Aug. 1, 1989. She was stationed with Eastern in Atlanta, Ga., until the airline declared bankruptcy in 1991. During those years, she traveled to Canada, Costa Rica, and all over the U.S. She then moved to the Denver Area, working several different jobs until she met and married David Trow of Aurora, Colo., on June 12, 1993. They welcomed son Damian on April 15, 1994, and second son Dylan on May 8, 1998. After living in Aurora for several years they moved to Buena Vista, Colo., where the boys attended school.

Her greatest blessings and joys in her life were her boys and she cherished the time she spent with them.

She will live on through her youngest son Dylan Trow of Durango, Colo.; her parents Dannie and Betsy Rogers of Creede, Colo.; her Uncle Lonnie and Aunt Nancy Rogers of Alamosa, Colo.; Aunt Norma Roberts of Santa Maria, Calif.; Uncle Bud Wilkinson of Golder, Colo.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and her extended family of many friends.

Tracy was preceded in death by her oldest son Damian Trow; her paternal grandparents Milton and Chloe Rogers; maternal grandparents Norm and Dot Wilkinson; and cousin Michael Roberts.

Tracy was a member of Creede Community Church and an active member of Creede Elks Lodge No. 506, where she was one of the first females admitted to membership. While living the past eight years in Creede, she worked at the Kentucky Belle Market, cherishing her time with all who knew her at the store.

As some quotes from cards received said " . . . she never failed to greet me with a hug — whether it was on Main Street, at Kentucky Belle, or at  Bingo, she was always smiling, laughing, and in an upbeat mood." and "I used to make up excuses to go into Kentucky Belle just to see Tracy — she always brightened my day!"

Tracy was home less than a week from what she called her "Magical" two-week trip to Hawaii, including a one-week cruise of the Islands, when she passed away. She loved her once-a-week “Trivia" night, dressing up for holidays, wearing outrageous fake fingernails, was an avid reader, Facebook friend, and an almost Fanatic sports fan of the Denver Broncos, Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, as well as supporting local Creede teams when she could.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be sometime in early June 2023.
