Trujillo earns Archuleta service award


DENVER — Dr. Michele Trujillo has received the prestigious Lena L. Archuleta Community Service Award for her work with the Antonito Homeschool Consortium and Conejos Clean Water.
In order to be considered,the recipient must be a female Colorado resident of Latino descent who has taken an active role in the community, above and beyond paid employment.
She must have made an impact on the cultural life of the community through her involvement with the Denver Public Library or another civic institution.
Dr. Trujillo followed through on a lifelong dream and founded the Antonito Homeschool Consortium, a non profit school which emphasizes that education is freedom.
She is married to ASU Professor Aaron Abeyta, who serves as a department head at AHSC.
Both Dr. Trujillo and Abeyta are active in their church and community.
