Two COVID-19 cases in SLV

Shelter in place for San Luis

SAN LUIS VALLEY— As of March 23, 2020, the valley has two positive cases of COVID-19 in Rio Grande County.


Both cases are currently isolating at home.


The town of San Luis is requesting that all citizens of San Luis shelter in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m in an effort to keep residents safe. This includes youth and teens.It is important that our youth are off the streets in the evening and at home.


Please use State of Colorado requested recommendations of washing your hands often, social distancing of at least 6 feet and limiting travel outside the area.


Mayor Tiffany A. Gallegos emphasizes that "This is not a 'lockdown!' Citizens can continue to perform tasks essential to the health and safety of family and pets. It is still fine to buy groceries, go for a run, walk your dog, pick up medicines, visit the doctor or get supplies to work from home during daylight hours.
