Two people die in roll-over crash in Conejos County

CONEJOS COUNTY — Two people died in a roll-over crash on Wednesday, July 20, on Alamosa County Road 15S, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

At approximately 3:02 p.m., a tan 2005 Ford Explorer was traveling west on Alamosa County Road 15S, approximately two miles west of Highway 285. This is approximately eight miles southwest of Alamosa in Conejos County.

The driver of the Ford Explorer lost control while attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve on the dirt road, CSP reported. The driver overcorrected and the Explorer rolled once.

All three occupants of the vehicle were unrestrained and were ejected from the vehicle, CSP reported. Two of the occupants died at the scene and another was transported via ambulance to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit.
