Victim, suspect identified in Costilla County shooting

COSTILLA COUNTY — Costilla County Sheriff Danny Sanchez has released the name of individuals involved in a May 27 shooting in Costilla County.

Costilla County deputies were dispatched to County Road 11 west of Blanca at 9 p.m. on May 27 where they found the body of a man who was the victim of a gunshot wound.

The man, who was deceased, has been identified as Omega Revelation McCullagh, 36. According to Sanchez, it is believed that McCullagh was living in Costilla County for about six months.

The suspect in the shooting was identified as David Delotta, 38, also of Costilla County.

According to Sheriff Sanchez, Delotta called the Costilla County Sheriff’s Office and told authorities he had shot someone following an altercation. He was subsequently taken into custody on property southwest of CR 11 where he had been living with his mother in a tent.

Delotta, who is being held in the Costilla County Jail, has been charged with suspicion of second-degree murder and bond set at $150,000.

Sanchez emphasized that is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
