Alamosa, Centauri well-represented on All-IML track team

ALAMOSA – The All-Intermountain League track and field team was released following the CHSAA state meet at the end of May.

Alamosa had eight boys and seven girls named All-League.

The Mean Moose boys were led by Mario Viallba who was named the league’s boys Runner of the Year. He won the 3,200- and 800-meter runs at the league track meet in April.

Also named All-League in individual events were Brayden Moeller in the 200-meter dash, and Jesse Maestas in the pole vault.

Maestas and Moeller were also on the 4x100-meter relay team which also included Brant Jackson and Chris Brooks. Viallba was also on the 4x800 relay team which also had Jeremiah DeLaCerda, Tyler Dokson and Cody Williams.

Lady Mean Moose named All-League were Elizabeth McQuitty in the 3,200, Madeline Castillo in the 1,600, Sarah DeLaCerda in the 800, Kaylee Gonzales-Moore in the 200, and Kaidence Boehm in the shot put. DeLaCerda was also the IML Female Spring Track Athlete of the Year.

McQuitty and Castillo were also on the 4x800-meter relay team along with Victoria Gifford and Abby Adams.

Alamosa’s Jen McQuitty was the IML Coach of the Year for both boys and girls track and field.

Centauri had four boys and one girl named All-League.

For the Falcons, Carson Bagwell was All-League in the triple jump, and Troy Sowards was All-IML in the high jump. Sowards was also the Class 3A state champion in the high jump.

Bagwell and Sowards were also members of the 4x400-meter relay team along with Tyrel Hostetter and Dallyn King.

For the Lady Falcons, Sara Kelly was All-League in the pole vault.

Other individual award winners saw Bayfield’s Gabriel Archuleta named boys Field Event Athlete of the Year, Montezuma-Cortez’s Marley Mack was the girls Runner of the Year, and Pagosa Springs’ Abi Nehring was the girls Field Event Athlete of the Year.
