GREELEY—It was a tough go around for the Antonito Lady Trojans as they fell on the opening day Thursday and again Friday in the consolation bracket of the State Basketball Tournament which took place at the University of Colorado.
Undefeated season broken in ‘Great 8’
The Antonito Trojans suffered their first loss of the season Thursday, and it was a tough one to the Fleming Wildcats, 68-57.
After leading 47-44 entering the final quarter, Erykah Tallman was eliminated and that helped the Wildcats outscore the Trojans 24-10 to get the huge win. Tallman fouled out with 7:46 left in the game, and it hurt.
The opening quarter started off outstanding for the Lady Trojans as senior Brenay Ruybal scored two straight field goals to give Antonito a 6-2 lead. That did not last long though as Ruybal had four personal fouls in the opening quarter and forced the hand of Head Coach Jeremy Romero. The Wildcats roared back and tied the game at 16 after one quarter as Kalyn Serranto scored six points.
